It would have saved SO much trouble. I recently read his Professional Barista's Handbook, and it was excellent.
I don't think the price is that steep if it helps you make better coffee from this point onwards. After all, many on here spend that much on a bag of beans that's gone in a few days.
I haven't read his Barista Handbook or anything but espresso, would you recommend reading the handbook before getting this e book or not? As drude said, we commonly spend that much or more on a bag of beans. And undoubtedly many people here possess an unused tamper that could easily fetch two or three times that amount on site.
If you prefer to see what other forum members have to say about the book before downloading your own copy, so be it. On the other hand, you can always download David Schomer's dogmatic and hopelessly outdated Espresso Coffee: Would anyone with a copy be willing to loan this out perhaps for a bag o' beans?

While the science isn't too difficult for the layperson to grasp, this isn't exactly a detailed book regarding roast profiles.
The author earns his living as a coffee consultant, so he seems to be keeping the best parts to himself. More in-depth discussion of roast profiles for different beans, roasters, and flavors are the only thing lacking, but that would take away from the entry-level nature of this book.
Perhaps a second book could cover that material, but it may have to be written by another author who isn't worried about giving away trade secrets. All in all, a good book and one more people should read. We need more people roasting fresh, tasty coffee. And, while it isn't really targeting hobbyists like me who roast coffee at home, it's good to get more of us doing it, too.
